In order to make your stay more comfortable, we have developed some of the following resort policies.  These policies are based on frequently asked questions and situations that have arisen in the past.  These guidelines are meant to provide an enjoyable environment for everyone while staying at Schmidt’s Landing.

CANCELLATIONS: A one night non-refundable deposit is required with each cabin reservation.  Guests are responsible for the full term of their reservation.

VISITORS:  Your cabin fees are based on the number of people that you made reservations for.  This does not include additional visitors, guests, neighbors, friends or relatives that may drop by.  If you are expecting any visitors, whether for a few moments or overnight, make arrangements with us BEFORE you make arrangements with them.  In fairness to all resort customers we strictly limit the number of visitors or may not allow them at all. ALL VISITORS MUST REGISTER AT THE OFFICE and will be charged $5 per person per day for use of the facility.  They will be required to depart by 10:00 p.m. or they will be charged the overnight fee of $20 per person.

QUIET TIME:  After 10:30 p.m., please keep the noise down!  Respect your neighbor’s right to sleep.

PETS:  Pets are welcome at the resort for a fee of $5 per pet per day.  As a responsible pet owner you will be asked to keep your pet on a leash at all times, never leave it unattended in the cabin and clean up after it.  You will also be responsible for any damage your pet causes and must keep it quiet in consideration of our other guests.

GLASS CONTAINERS No glass containers (long neck beer bottles or wine coolers) of any kind are allowed outside of the cabins. This will be strictly enforced.

EXTRA BEDS: In need of an extra bed?  No problem, there are sofa sleepers and roll-aways available for use in each cabin.  We will gladly provide the linens and make them up for you upon request.  Please do not tamper with the extra beds without asking.

GUEST LAUNDRY:  A guest laundry room is available and located at the end of the west building near the public restrooms. We charge $5 per load to wash and dry.  Ask for the key in the resort store.

AIR CONDITIONING/HEAT:  Please do not tamper with the air conditioners or heaters.  If you are having difficulty heating or cooling your cabin, come ask for help!

DISHES & COOKWARE:  These items are placed in the cabin for your convenience.  The items used must be washed before departure and retuned to the cabinets.  A $5 fee will be charged for unwashed dishes.

SHORELINE ROCKS:  All rock along the shoreline and dock area must stay where they are.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!  Needless to say it is dangerous to fishermen and swimmers to have rocks thrown in the lake especially in the swimming and dock areas. In an effort to protect the shoreline we have had to haul in rock and granite, therefore, no rock throwing allowed!

SHOWERS:  The showers in the cabins are for use by the cabin occupants only!  Campers are to use the public showers located in the resort store.  There is no charge for their use.

GARBAGE:   Please help us sort aluminum from trash.  Cans are appropriately marked in the cabins and on the grounds for trash and aluminum cans.  Additional garbage can liners are located in the drawer closet to the window or are available at the resort store.

GRILLS:  Please keep all grills at least 20 feet away form the buildings.  This is to meet fire codes and prevent damage to the buildings.  After ashes have cooled, please dump them in the fire pits and not in the trash barrels.

DOCKS:  There are six docks on the resort property.  Three are for use by resort guests to tie their boats during breaks from daily activities.  Please do not tie your boat to the boat ramp dock or to the T-dock east of the fish cleaning house.  These are designated for launching boats and for filling boats with gas.

RENTAL BOATS:  Please do not allow children to play on or in the rental boats.

PARKING:  Cabins with more than 2 vehicles will need to park the additional units in the parking area above the boat ramp near the volleyball court.  There is also overflow parking on the campground…ask at the office for the appropriate parking spot.

DAMAGES:   Please report any accidental damages so that it can be corrected promptly.  This includes any soiled bedding or linens so that they may be cleaned.

CAMPFIRE RINGS:  Do not move any of the campfire rings ~ they need to stay in their existing locations to avoid more burn spots on the lawn.  There are additional rings on the campground for use, but you will have to move to them….not bring them to you!  Please use the garbage cans for any trash. Do not burn your trash in the rings.

FIREWOOD:  The South Dakota Department of Agriculture's division of Forestry has declared that campers are no longer allowed to transport their own firewood in an effort to slow the spread of the emerald ash borer.  Therefore, we have bundles of firewood available for sale at the resort store.

TREES:  Please do not tear limbs from any trees!  If you need firewood or sticks for hot dogs and marshmallows we sell both in the store, so no need to disturb the trees.

Thank you for taking the time to review this list of items. If you need further assistance, please feel free to ask questions.  Most important, just relax and enjoy the facility.

GRILLS:  Please do not set your grills on the plastic picnic tables.  Believe it or not they burn holes in the table tops and then no one can use them.
