We're from Roy, Utah and the last couple of years have come to South Dakota to take Kay's Mom (Dorothy) on South Dakota fishing trips. This was our first trip to Schmidt's Landing on Big Stone Lake and WOW is we'll say.

Outstanding resort and wonderful facilities from the cabin amenities, to the well maintained resort grounds, C-Store had whatever you desired (continental breakfast making your own waffles, great pizza, variety of food, bait, lures, cold drinks, ice-cream etc etc). We were also very pleased with the quietness of this resort throughout the day and at night. The boat we rented had all the needs for a serious angler. Jim and Donna provided us very helpful fishing pointers and locations to fish on Big Stone. We caught Walleye, White Bass, Perch and even a Blue Gill all on recommended bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses (red/white and hammered silver blades). Mom now has plenty of fish for great fish dinners all thanks to the fishing tips from Jim and Donna.

If you love to fish and want a very relaxful fishing vacation in South Dakota this is hands-down the place to go!!! Without a doubt we felt so much at home and relaxed with Jim's and Donna's wonderful and friendly hospitality we're already planning next years fishing trip back to Schmidt's Landing.

We recently returned from our first stay at the Schmidt’s landing. It was my family’s first return to Big Stone lake since the 70’s. My father and 4 brother’s had an excellent time from the Sunday grill out through the entire week’s stay. The facility was top notch and fishing was very good. We caught many species walleye’s, perch, northerns, large mouth bass. The staff was excited to help us catch fish as were some of the other guests. From the breakfasts to the late nite tv we found everything first rate. Already talking about a fall perch outing. Thanks Jim and Donna!

We just completed our 15th trip to Schmidt's Landing on Big Stone Lake and as always, we had a great time. On the third day of our five day stay we limited out on Walleye's in the 18
inch and above range. Jim took my brother-in-law Bob and I for some guided fishing and put us on some really big fish, 24 and above. Donna as always will bend over backwards to ensure you have everything you need during your stay so we look forward to the next 15
trips to Schmidt's Landing. We consider them a part of our extended family.

I also want to take a moment to say, I'm really impressed with your web site. Very professional and very well done. I'm really excited about the upcoming fishing season, especially after the incredibly loooong winter.

Barbara and I were so taken with our first stay at Schmidt's Landing this past summer (2009); the whole resort is very neat and clean. We decided to leave our travel trailer at the resort over the winter and return next Spring (2010). Barb and I have never had more fun than last summer at Schmidt's Landing.

Jim & Donna are the greatest people to know and be around; and their granddaughter is such a joyful and happy child and a lot of fun to be around.

A stay at Schmidt's Landing will brighten your whole summer.

Having just completed our first visit to Schmidt's Landing and the Big Stone area, we thought we'd provide our "first impressions" of Jim and Donna's facilities.

What struck us immediately was that all of the facilities are extremely well maintained and attractive. The cabin was immaculately clean, something seldom seen at resorts and greatly appreciated. Firm beds, not some sagging relics from the 1950's - another rarity at other resorts we've frequented over the years. The resort offers about every amenity one can imagine, and having WiFi was a major bonus. Jim and Donna were friendly and helpful, although obviously extremely busy getting things buttoned up for winter. (One can only wish that you could have 10% of Donna's energy - she's like the Energizer Bunny - she just keeps going, and going, and going....)

The weather was, to say the least, less than cooperative for us, but the time we spent on the lake was fairly productive. We look forward to our next visit to Schmidt's Landing, and plan to make at least an annual stop there.

Once again, thank you for a great week long get-away at Schmidt's Landing.

Everything was great and the breakfast is a nice addition. When packed up to

leave, Ron gathered a bunch of towels, sweatshirts that were tossed on the floor and the rug came home with us! I am also sending this sunset picture - I was pleasantly surprised when I printed it out.

Best wished to you on the remaining vacation season. We will have Jim in our prayers for successful results with his upcoming surgery.

I love the newsletter it is informative and the great things about staying with you at the resort, I trip that we made each and every year some times twice, it isn’t always about fishing it about relaxation and just being at the lake, no phones, no pressures of everyday life, the sunrises are beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular, the peace and quiet seem to restore the soul,. We remember when there was no A/C and not enough power to run many item’s at one time. Jim & Donna have really made their resort the class act on Big Stone Lake and the place to stay. They always go out of their way to ensure you have a great time at Schmidt’s Landing.

For the anglers, the Walleye’s are there and of May of 08’, the Northern are back with a big surprise with no steel leader. If you enjoy fishing structure, weed lines, drifting, trolling or cranking, you’ll put fishing in the boat! Period
